The building certifier who issues the final certificate for the new pool (form 17 or form 11) must provide details to the QBCC. Then the QBCC enters the certificate details into the Pool Register.

The register is free to access and you can also register your pool address.

How to register a pool

Register now on myQBCC

You can do this online through myQBCC by:

  1. searching for your address
  2. clicking on the 'continue' button to register your pool details.

We conduct audits of properties and if you have not registered your pool you may face a fine.

We operate the Queensland pool safety register, which records:

  • every regulated pool in the state
  • pool safety certificates if one has been issued for a pool
  • building certificates if one has been issued for a pool.

You can search to see if your pool is registered. You will need the address and/or the lot and plan number.

How to de-register a pool

When there is no longer a pool on your property, QBCC requires a written request to remove a pool from the register for regulated pools. To remove a pool from the register, send an email to poolsafety@qbcc.qld.gov.au. Once your pool record is removed, you will receive a confirmation email.

In addition to removing your pool from the register, a pool must lawfully be decommissioned, which may require building approval. Before commencing any work for the removal or decommissioning of a pool, check with your local council for specific requirements on how to do this.

For further information on registering or de-registering a pool, please contact us.

Please note, the decommissioned pool (including portable spa pools) must not be able to hold more than 300 millimetres of water.
