Maximum amounts covered
The Queensland Home Warranty Scheme covers a maximum of $200,000 each for various categories of loss. This increases to $300,000 if optional additional cover has been taken out.
The Queensland Home Warranty Scheme policy covers a maximum of $200,000 each for:
- refunding a deposit if work has not started or finishing incomplete work and repairing any defects that are discovered before the work is finished (this includes any costs arising from theft or vandalism that occur after the non-completion claim has been accepted)
- repairing damage caused by fire, storm or tempest in incomplete works (if the claim for incomplete work has been submitted and accepted)
- fixing defects and subsidence in the work after the project is completed.
This $200,000 includes a maximum of $5,000 for:
- alternative accommodation
- removal costs
- storage costs.
If we pay a claim, we pursue the contractor to recover the claim amount.
Optional additional cover
You can increase your cover from $200,000 to $300,000 by buying optional additional cover within certain time limits.
This increased cover includes a maximum of $10,000 for:
- alternative accommodation
- removal costs
- storage costs.
