Renew, restore, replace your licence
Learn how to renew, restore or replace your individual or company licence.
Exceptions to this process
Some licences have different processes for updating details on their licence. Learn how to:
Renew
We will send you a licence renewal notice one month before it is due.
Renewal options
You can renew your licence several ways.

The easiest way to renew your licence is to pay online. No form is required with this method. You can either:

- BPAY through your online banking portal. Check your renewal notice for the BPAY biller code and your Customer Reference Number (CRN).
Phone
- Call us on 139 333 to pay using a credit or debit card.
- No form is required.
- Mail us the form with your credit or debit card details on it.
In person
- By visiting a service centre, where you will need to show photo ID.
- You can pay by Eftpos at a service centre.
Direct debit
You can pay your renewal fee by direct debit.
You will need to set up the service in advance of your renewal date. It takes 24 hours from the time we receive the form to set up your direct debit service. We will notify you when it is ready for use.
To set up the service:
- Download and complete the Direct debit request form (PDF 59.1KB).
- Return it to us via:
- mail (send well in advance of renewal date to allow time for us to receive the form and set up the service.)
- in person at a QBCC service centre.
Renewal fees
Contractor licence fees are based on your maximum revenue.
You pay a fixed fee if you have a:
- occupational licence
- site supervisor licence
- nominee supervisor licence.
New licence card
We send a confirmation letter when your licence is renewed and a card 2 weeks later.
Late renewals and suspension
If you don't pay your licence renewal fee by the due date, your licence may be suspended. This means you can't carry out any building work, including:
- signing contracts
- providing quotes or tenders
- completing building work in progress.
You have 3 months from licence expiry date to renew your licence. After that time we may cancel your licence and you will have 3 months to apply to have it restored.
Restore
If you do not renew your licence within 3 months of the expiry date, your licence will be cancelled. You then have a further 3-month period in which you may be able to restore your licence after it has been cancelled for failure to renew.
To restore your licence you will need to complete the Restoration of licence form and pay the outstanding renewal fee, as well as an additional restoration fee. If restored, the date of being licensed will be from the expired renewal date.
If more than 3 months has lapsed since your licence was cancelled, or your licence has been cancelled for any reason other than failure to renew, it cannot be restored.
If your licence cannot be restored, you will need to reapply and meet the current licensing requirements to regain your licence. This includes the technical qualification requirements as per the Technical Qualifications for Licensing document. Qualifications previously used may no longer be accepted.
NOTE: If your licence is suspended or cancelled for any reason other than late fees, it cannot be restored. You'll need to reapply and meet the current licensing requirements.
