National Construction Code 2025 Adoption

The Queensland Government has announced a change to the National Construction Code 2025 (NCC 2025) timeline.

The Queensland adoption of the new code has been delayed ensuring the building and plumbing industries have sufficient time to prepare and adapt.

Key dates

  • Until 30 April 2027 - the NCC 2022 remains the mandatory standard for all building and plumbing work in Queensland
  • From 1 May 2027 - the NCC 2025 becomes the mandatory minimum standard across Queensland.

Why the change?

This 12-month extension of NCC 2022 provides industry stakeholders with a necessary buffer to review technical assessments, update internal processes, and familiarise themselves with the changes in standards introduced in the NCC 2025 edition.
