Complaints and disputes
If a dispute or issue arises during your building and construction project, we may be able to investigate or help resolve the problem. There are some complaints and issues we cannot assist with.
We don’t deal with all building complaints. If your issue relates to any of the following, contact the appropriate agency to get help.
- Complaints from the public regarding workplace health and site safety, including issues with site amenities (e.g. toilet) or asbestos removal—contact Workplace Health and Safety. For obligations on QBCC licensees to report safety matters you can report a safety issue or incident.
- Water run-off, design and siting concerns—contact your local council.
- Neighbourhood building work (including dividing fences and trees)—contact the Department of Justice & Attorney General
- Personal safety (i.e. threats of violence)—contact your local police.
- Non-issue of building certificates—contact your local council or seek legal advice.
- Noise complaints—contact your local council.
- Scams or frauds—contact the Office of Fair Trading or the Queensland Police.
