Public Warning - Wade Francis Morely and Moose's Plumbing and Gasfitting

26 November 2014

This is a warning by the Commissioner of the QBCC to the public under section 20J(1)(h) of the Queensland Building and Construction Commission Act 1991

The Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) is urging consumers, contractors and suppliers to be cautious in their dealings with Wade Francis Morley, who is known to have traded as Moose’s Plumbing and Gasfitting.

Mr Morley does not hold a QBCC licence and is therefore not able to lawfully carry out, or enter into contracts to carry out building work in Queensland, including plumbing and gasfitting.

It is alleged that Mr Morley has been carrying out unlawful plumbing and gasfitting work in southeast Queensland and trades from premises on the Gold Coast. Industry intelligence suggests that Mr Morley’s current activities may be focused around replacing sacrificial anodes on hot water systems. An unregistered trading name he is known to use is Aussie Anodes.

QBCC investigations have resulted in Mr Morley being issued a number of fines for unlicensed contracting. He has also committed other offences, including a failure to use contracts. The QBCC is currently taking action against Mr Morley for further similar offences.

The QBCC warns anyone dealing with Mr Morley to use extreme caution and seek legal advice before making any payments, to protect their interests. If consumers or contractors know that Mr Morley is undertaking work, they should report this to the QBCC immediately on 139 333.

The QBCC further warns that the QBCC Home Warranty insurance scheme may not be available to consumers if they are found to be engaging unlicensed contractors. The QBCC urges homeowners to conduct research before engaging contractors, and recommends engaging a licensed contractor, even for small jobs.

If you are in doubt if the entity you are contracting with is licensed or holds the correct licence, please conduct a free online licence search at or contact the QBCC 24/7 on 139 333.
