Conviction and $30,000 fine for building offences

Logan Braidwood, formerly of Townsville, has been fined $30,000 and convicted of eight charges relating to unlicensed building work and failing to pay the appropriate insurance premium for residential construction work.

Mr Braidwood pleaded guilty to all charges in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on 8 May 2014. The offences originated in Townsville between March and August 2012.

Mr Braidwood, as an executive officer of the companies, Build N Kits (NQ) Pty Ltd and Payless 891 Pty Ltd, failed to ensure they complied with the provisions of the Queensland Building and Construction Commission Act, thus making him liable for their actions.

Commissioner of the Queensland Building and Construction Commission, Steve Griffin, said the result was a stark warning to unlicensed individuals and that they face significant penalties for their actions.
