The building certifier who issues the final certificate for the new pool (form 17 or form 11) must provide details to the QBCC. Then the QBCC enters the certificate details into the Pool Register.
The register is free to access and you can also register your pool address.
How to register a pool

You can do this online through myQBCC by:
- searching for your address
- clicking on the 'continue' button to register your pool details.
We conduct audits of properties and if you have not registered your pool you may face a fine.
We operate the Queensland pool safety register, which records:
- every regulated pool in the state
- pool safety certificates if one has been issued for a pool
- building certificates if one has been issued for a pool.
You can search to see if your pool is registered. You will need the address and/or the lot and plan number.
How to de-register a pool
First you need to decommission your pool. Before commencing any work for the removal or decommissioning of a pool, you may need to obtain building approval from a private building certifier for the work. Check with your council if they have specific requirements on how to do this.
Next, you'll need to seek council confirmation that the pool has been demolished or removed. Most local councils have rules about making a request to have a pool decommissioned and have information sheets available to walk you through the process.
Once your council confirms that they have decommissioned the pool, contact us to to remove your pool from the register. The QBCC require evidence that the pool has been physically decommissioned from the site. Most councils will happily send an email to poolsafety@qbcc.qld.gov.au confirming this if asked to do so.
Please note, the decommissioned pool (including portable spa pools) must not be able to hold more than 300 millimetres of water.
